I am is directly influenced by ancient Imperial and Chinese wares and those of 18th century Meissen and Sèvres. My work is predominantly botanical themes – fruits, vegetables, leaves and flowers.
I have lectured and demonstrated my technique around the country in numerous museums and associations: Bayou Bend, Houston, TX; Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY; RISDI, Providence, RI; Museum of Art, Kalamazoo, MI and Charlotte, NC; Hartford Athenaeum, Hartford, CT; Peabody Essex, Salem, MA; Philadelphia Garden Show in PA and many others.
I have also regularly exhibited at the New York Ceramics Fair; the Palm Beach Art and Antiques Show, the Baltimore Art and Antique Show, and also in Greenwich, CT, Winterthur, DE and Philadelphia, PA.
The decorative porcelain art work of Katherine Houston is collected throughout the United States, in Europe, South America, and Japan. My work can be seen at the New Britain Museum of American Art in Connecticut, which houses an internationally acclaimed porcelain collection. I have been commissioned by The White House to create an exclusive work of art – an authentic ‘American Pumpkin’ – to be used as State Department gifts.

I am the 2005 recipient of a Distinguished Women’s Award bestowed annually by Northwood University to women who are outstanding in their fields.
